Robert M. Smith is president and founder of Yosemite Group International (YGI), a full service tour, transportation & service management company based in the Sierra Nevada foothill town of Oakhurst, Ca just outside of Yosemite National Park’s Southern Gate.

Yosemite Sightseeing Tours, LLC (YST), (a division of YGI) was begun by Smith in 1990 with one mini bus and a lot of ideas. Over the years he has seen his company grow into one of the most prestigious and dynamic tour companies in the Central Valley & Sierra Nevada. YST now encompasses a fleet of touring vehicles which include mini buses, convertible JEEP limousines and SUV’s. Perfect for experiencing the wonders of Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Over the years Smith has also branched into the Group and Convention sectors of travel, offering transportation to & from areas outside of the Yosemite area, as well as organizing whole itineraries for everyone from individuals to large groups.

A native of Marin County, Smith spent many of his formative years in locales all over the world, ranging from New Zealand, Australia, and Europe. Smith is a 1984 graduate of the International Tour Management Institute, ITMI and has led trips around the world and domestically for such notable companies such as Globus Gateway and Contiki Holidays.

In addition to overseeing Yosemite Sightseeing Tours, Smith owns National Park Souvenirs (NPS), a retail store and mail order catalog business and Yosemite Vittles, a food service enterprise; all divisions of Yosemite Group International (YGI).
